BIO
John Kelly is a Charlottesville-based singer songwriter with more than two decades of solo acoustic performing experience throughout the New York area and in Virginia. Kelly brings a range of influences including Americana, folk, country, rocks and soul to this ten-song collection of original songs that showcase his sharp skills as a songwriter drawn to stories of love, hate, and the hope the lies in between. His soulful voice brings to mind a mix of singers like Don Henley, Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams and others, and his deep and powerful songs showcase a true storyteller’s heart, encompassing topics ranging from the a celebration of the rich legacy of his own father to the aftermath of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, to the dreams of a Civil War soldier and the thoughts of a well-intentioned guy whose trip to confession lands him instead with his more familiar barroom congregation.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
John’s time busking in Grand Central Station was well served. At his core he is a storyteller — and what stories they are — rich and layered, best consumed live with a six string in his hand. One of our favorite singer songwriters. - Chris Yordy, Owner, Mountfair Vineyards
